Welcome to another wonderful year at Armstrong School. We are incredibly excited to welcome back many familiar faces as well as to have a chance to meet all of our new students, not only in kindergarten but in grades one to three as well. As the school counselor, my job is to support the social emotional development and well-being of our students. To do this, I will plan to visit each classroom approximately twice a month. During these lessons, we focus on a range of topics, from school safety to friendship development and problem solving. After each lesson, I will post a letter to this blog explaining our work in class along with recommendations to reinforce the topic at home. I also try to be at lunch and recess as much as possible, both of which are perfect times to support students in building strong peer relationships.
I believe that more than anything, communication is the key to helping our children and students be successful. I encourage you to post comments or questions to any of my blog posts. And if you have any specific questions or concerns about your child, please do not hesitate to give me a call (508-836-7760) or send me an email ([email protected]).
We look forward to a great year at Armstrong!
Sincerely,
David Starr
